George Best Belfast City Airport is owned by ABN AMRO Global Infrastructure Fund. It is a regional airport serving a range of destinations, mainly in Great Britain and Ireland. Situated on the south shore of Belfast Lough adjacent to the A2, one of the main arterial routes into the city, the airport has grown significantly in recent years and is a key strategic gateway to the province. Within a few minutes drive of Belfast city centre, GBBCA currently caters for over 2.5 million passengers per year, representing approximately 40% of the scheduled domestic air traffic to and from Northern Ireland.
Directions by Car
The airport is located on the A2, Sydenham Bypass road between Belfast and Holywood, on the southern shore of Belfast Lough. Those approaching Belfast on the M1 or M2 should follow the signs to Belfast City Airport, leading to the A2 via the M3.
The short stay car park is the first car park on the right hand side after entering the airport site. The main car park is sited past the terminal building. Both are signposted. A courtesy bus operates between the main car park and the terminal. This bus circulates every 15 minutes, stopping at three shelters in the car park and at the designated point beside the terminal entrance.
Directions by Train
A shuttle bus service operates between the airport termainal and the adjacent rail halt at Sydenham. Translink operates a twice-hourly rail service (0600-2300) Monday-Friday to Central and Victoria Street Stations. The service is hourly on Sundays (0900-2200).
