Courchevel skiing holidays

If you are looking for ski holidays to suit everyone, then look no further than Courchevel.  Courchevel is located in one of the renowned Three valleys and is made up of four separate resorts which are differentiated according to altitude – 1300 (La Praz), 1550, 1650 and 1850.  La Praz is by far the most picturesque and is linked to 1850 by gondola.

Ski breaks here will appeal to families due to the 600km of piste all interconnected by nearly 200 lifts.  There is plenty of skiing available in Courchevel for most levels of skier but for those who are very advanced then you can take time to explore more of the region to seek out some truly exhilarating and challenging slopes.

Skiing holidays start from mid-December through to mid-April and the great snow coverage is maintained by the high altitudes in this region.  Younger kiddies will find January and March most suitable whereas February can be busy and bustling which will appeal for to older children.  You can get regular flights from the UK to Geneva and Chambery and accommodation is reasonably priced in these skiing resorts.

Spoilt for choice on the pistes

When it comes to skiing you will be completely spoilt for choice.  There are an amazing 275 pistes in the Three Valleys region which cover 600km of snow which can be accessed by 200 lifts.  For beginners there is an excellent nursery at 1850 with some great nursery slopes.

Moving onto intermediates and advanced skiers there are plenty of great slopes for skiing fun.  The resort of Courchevel is extensive in itself but then go further out to resorts such as Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Meribel and St. Martin and you have more skiing opportunities than you know what to do with, and here we’re just talking about pistes.  There are also guided off-piste tours for the adventurous and cross-country skiers and snowboarders will find plenty to do on their skiing breaks also.

Not just for skiing

If you fancy a break from skiing then you can try squash, swimming, skating or even snowmobile rides, dog sledding and toboggan runs!  If you want a relaxing night then you can always catch a movie.

When it comes to cuisine you’ll be well looked after if you stay at a hotel or chalet.  In La Praz there are some great dining options at Ya Ca and Le Bistro.  In the daytime there are mountain restaurants galore to fill up on fuel for the day’s skiing.

At The Co-operative Travel we want to make sure you get the best skiing experience so our advisers are experts at finding the best ski holidays for you.
