Chamonix ski breaks

Chamonix offers families a great choice for skiing holidays and activity holidays all set in one of the most beautiful backdrops of any skiing resort.

For skiing breaks, the area of Mont Blanc provides 500km of piste which includes the infamous Vallee Blanche of 24km of off-piste run.  This is great for advanced teen skiers but not suitable for your beginner toddler.  Le Tour provides the family with ski breaks on easy runs with stunning views.  The ski season starts in mid-December and ends in mid-April.  Skiing holidays are appealing to smaller kids in January and March whereas older teens will enjoy the bustle of the February half term.

If you head to Chamonix in the summer you are guaranteed a great mountain holiday at one of the leading mountain resorts.  There are a fantastic variety of activities available from swimming in the Alpine sun to hill walking to train journeys up the mountains.

You can fly to Geneva via most UK airports or alternatively take the ferry and drive to Chamonix.  There is a wide selection of accommodation to choose from including hotels, chalets and other self catering options both in Chamonix and in the neighbouring areas.

Skiing breaks for experts to novices

Of the five ski areas available here, four of them are excellent for intermediates looking for ski breaks with diversity for their skills.  The area of Mont Blanc provides 500km of piste which also includes the 24km of Valle Blanche.  This area is a mecca for those seeking skiing holidays due to the variety of slopes and the breathtaking scenery.  For a gentle family day out visit Le Tour and if you have children who are just learning to ski then they will be well catered for on the nursery slopes of Sapiniere.

In summer Chamonix offers a wide range of activities for kids.  Children can learn how to rock climb and there are courses that include the whole family available.  There are mountain walks starting off from the town or for a more sedate way to travel take either a cable car or the mountain railways into the centre of the glaciers and lakes.  For a fun journey back take your mountain bike up on the cable cars.

At Co-operative Travel we have advisers who can take the hassle out of choosing your skiing holidays and ensure that you find a package for a ski break that is tailored to your family needs.
