Méribel ski holidays

Méribel can be found at the heart of the ski area of the Three Valleys and is popular for skiing holidays.  Other resorts that can be found in this area are Val Thorens, Les Meniures and Courchevel.  These resorts are interconnected with an intricate network of ski lifts including two cable cars capable of holding up to 150 people, in excess of 40 gondolas and around 25 chairlifts.

For ski breaks, you really can’t go wrong as the resort offers 600kms of piste making the ski opportunities endless for the whole family.  For most people the skiing facilities will be more than adequate but if you are an experienced skier then taking a couple of days to explore other ski regions is recommended while the kids are taken care of.

Quaint ski villages on stunning slopes

Méribel is picturesque in stone and local wood but if you want something more modern the Mottaret complex is four kilometres away at a higher altitude.  You’ll find that all accommodation and Mottaret provides doorstep skiing and some is also available in Méribel itself.

If not everyone on your ski break is a ski lover then you can find a wide choice of activities that cater for both children and adults including swimming, skating, bowling and watching a movie.

Skiing holidays start from mid-December and last through until mid-April.  Due to the altitude there is excellent snow cover at the Three Valleys resort well into Spring.  January and March are good times to go if you have very young children whereas February can be very busy.

Geneva and Chambery are the main airports to travel to and there is an excellent range of accommodation available for family ski holidays.

Extensive skiing for all abilities

There is a whopping 275 runs with the vast majority being classified as ‘easy’ or ‘intermediate’.  There are many gentle slopes for the beginners on your ski break which are within close proximity of Méribel itself so that children – and indeed beginner adults – can get comfortable before heading to more challenging slopes.

If you are an advanced skier then you will love Méribel as there is a challenging and extensive array of slopes to try.  You’ll also find long runs like Combe du Vallon which stretched for 5km and the cross-country skiers and snowboarders amongst you will also find plenty of slopes.

For non-skiers joining in the ski breaks there are plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs for après ski as well as family pursuits such as swimming, bowling and skating.  For the adventurous you can try parasailing, snow shoeing, snow biking and scenic flights.

At The Co-operative Travel we are experts in advising families on the best ski holidays available ensuring you get your ski break experience of a lifetime.
