Borovets is the oldest ski resort in Bulgaria with a history that dates back to 1896, and has been providing skiing holidays for a lifetime. Pamporovo slopes are huddled in venerable pine woods which lie 1650 meters above sea level in the Rhodopes Mountains.  The highest pistes at Borovets are 2600 metres. Pamporovo is perfect for the novice skier where they can receive English tuition from ski schools on the nursery slopes.  Nursery slopes are equipped with three draglifts and six chairlifts.  Additionally, there are nine fabulous scenic ski restaurants available from the slopes with the highest sitting on Snejanka Peak.

For beginners taking skiing holidays in Borovets the best resort to head for is probably Bansko which offers intermediately skiers and beginners the best value for money and facilities.  Ski pistes in Bansko are situated between the 2 areas of Chalin Valog (1,100 and 1,600 metres), and Shiligarnika (1,700 and 2,500 metres) situated on the Pirin Mountain.
