Soll skiing holidays

For ski holidays in Soll, this beautiful resort has found the right balance and has become an attractive destination for families and couples looking for ski breaks.

The village of Soll is medium sized with a couple of dozen hotels along with plenty of the traditional mountain chalets making it attractive as a popular centre for skiing breaks.  Skiing is centred on the Hohe Salve Mountain which is known by the locals as the ‘queen’ of the region and is shared with the resort of Hopfgarten.  You can get a gondola from the outskirts of the village to Hoch Soll.  From here, at 1150 metres, there are a series of chairlifts to take you further up to the runs above.

Enjoy Skiwelt

To make this resort even more appealing it is part of the largest ski circuit linked by lifts in Austria called Skiwelt.  Skiwelt connects Soll to the resorts of Westendorf and Ellamu.  There are other passes available that make it possible with a small trip on a bus to travel over to Kitzbuhel or via a longer trip you can even access the expansive Kitzbuheler Alpen region.

Skiwelt is great for advancing beginners and intermediates looking for ski breaks that will provide them with the opportunity to explore on the road skiing rather than being cooped up in one resort.  There are a variety of ski runs aimed at beginners making it appealing to those with young families looking for skiing holidays and for advanced adults there are smatterings of steep black runs to tackle.

The views are breathtaking with the Wilder Kaiser peaks in the north and the stunning Kitzbuheler Alps in the south.  A great visit for the kids is a stop off at Hochsöll where the souvenier shop is kitted out to look like a witches’ cauldron.

Fine dining on the slopes

There are an amazing 73 restaurants to choose from at Skiwelt.  For idyllic views of the Wilder Kaiser mountains try the Bergrestaurant and the Gipfelrestaurant Hohe Salve at the top of Brandstandl gondola where you can sit out on a sunny terrace while you eat.  Another great place for the children is Stöcklalmis close to Hochsöll.  This is a converted cowshed and you can enjoy watching locals make cheese and bread.

The village of Soll is quaint and has a stunning Baroque church which is worth a visit.  For something less spiritual the village also has barrel shaped discotheque that is lively in the evening.

At The Co-operative Travel we offer excellent skiing holidays in this region and can help you select the best resort and ski break package for you and your family.  We’ll take time to understand your requirements to ensure your skiing break is a memorable one.
