Ski breaks in Kitzbuhel

Kitzbuhel is one of the most popular and world famous ski resorts and is a great choice for family skiing holidays.  It is located within easy distance from some great cities including Munich, Innsbruck and Salzburg nestled in the Tyrolean Alps.

The town boasts that it was one of the first to adopt skiing holidays in 1893 giving a long skiing tradition.  Although Kitzbuhel has been a ski break mecca for many years it has very successfully maintained its Tyrolean charm and has a great selection of accommodation for guests.

Get the most of three ski regions

The ski areas have great snow coverage and have even been known to open in November due to early snowfall.  There is a choice of three ski regions for ski holidays in this area.  Firstly there is the well known ski circus that covers 168km and is well linked by chairlifts.  Then there is a link by Ki-West to SkiWelt which is also well linked.  Finally you can access the massive Kitzbuhel Aplen Pass adding another 300km to your skiing area.

As with Mayrhofen, Kitzbuhel has a relatively low altitude.  Skiing opportunities are however extensive and cater to all levels of ability.  This resort is famous for its Ski Safari route which starts at the Hahnenkamm gondola.  Here you can look at the world famous race course and admire the names of past racers.  The tour starts at Pengelstein, then onto Wurzhöhe, to Resterhöhe and then the final descent to Pass Thurn.  This is popular with experienced skiers however if you have smaller children or are new to skiing you’ll also be able to find plenty of gentler slopes on skiing breaks here.

Food on ski breaks on the slopes

There are some great mountain restaurants with a choice of simple cuisine to high dining.  The Hochkitzbühel is a popular haunt and has easy access to the Hahnenkammbahn gondola.  You can also find a sunny terrace, ski museum and an umbrella bar.  The ski museum has its own ski simulator which is great fun for the kids.

If you want a break from the slopes at any point during your skiing holiday there are all kinds of activities to entertain both children and adults alike.  You can ski-jump, toboggan, bobsleigh, snow shoe and skate.  There is indoor horse riding, curling, ice yachting, paragliding and hot air ballooning plus swimming, squash and tennis.  If that all sounds far too tiring then try out the Aquarena with its sauna and Turkish baths, or get a well earned massage or mudpack.

The Co-operative Travel advisers will take time to ensure you select the best accommodation and skiing holidays package to suit your family.  We can take away the hassle and ensure you choose the perfect ski holiday for you.
