France Ski Resorts & Holidays
The most popular choice for brits
Find the latest deals on Ski holidays to France at The Co-operative Travel, and book online with confidence. France Ski holidays are synonymous with the Alpine region, and indeed that is where the best-known French ski resorts are to be found. The country claims to have the largest number of skiable slopes in the world and although the Pyrenees on the Spanish border also offers superb alternatives, the majority of skiers choosing France ski holidays head straight for the Alps.
The fabulous historic town of Chambery serves as the gateway to the French Alps. Established in the 13th Century the town's airport is the starting point for many keen skiers excitedly heading for their resort. There are around 40 well-known France ski resorts within one hour's drive of Chambery airport including both Courcheval and Meribel. A further two hour's drive and there is a stunning choice of 74 more resorts, including perennially popular Chamonix.
Three Valleys Ski Holidays
Part of the Three Valleys range, Courcheval is a magnet for the well-heeled; all in town for the heady mix of marvellous snow and sophisticated après-ski. Spread over several different altitudes the resort of Courcheval offers neat, well groomed runs and plenty of areas to go off-piste, if desired. Founded by British Colonel Robert Lindsay the nearby resort of Meribel has not succumbed to modern progress and proudly retains its Alpine ambience by ensuring all resort accommodation is in the form of traditional chalets.
In the shadow of Mont Blanc, Chamonix has a long history as one of the Massif Central's favoured resorts. Stunning snow-covered peaks and glorious glaciers provide scenery to die for and the slopes are incredibly varied. Off-piste is never far away and in addition to the excellent après-ski bars and restaurants there is a fine selection of boutiques and designer stores.
Getting to the Three Valleys region is easy and quick from the UK. If flights to Chambery are not available only 30 miles to the south is the town of Grenoble and a similar distance to the northwest the city of Lyons - both well served by UK airlines.
Other great destinations for lovers of France ski resorts include Val Thorens, Flaine and Isola 2000. Wherever you choose, for the best France ski package holidays look no further than The Co-operative Travel; we'll take care of all your France ski desires.
