Borovets Ski Resorts & Holidays


Borovets is nestled amidst pine forests in the beautiful Rila mountains, Borovets is Bulgaria's oldest established and largest resort. The skiing reaches up to over 2500m and snow conditions are among the best in Eastern Europe. Beginners will get the best possible start with a highly rated local ski school and for intermediates there is a good variety of runs as well as some interesting diversions for experts. Nightlife in the resort centres around the many bars and discos at bargain prices and there is a great entertainments programme. Food in Bulgaria is simple and traditional.

Beginners (4 out of 5)

A perfect resort for beginners with a high standard of English speaking instruction and gentle nursery slopes, just beside the Rila Complex and barely three minutes' walk from the Hotel Samokov and our chalet.

Intermediates (3 out of 5)

Borovets is a very good resort for intermediates. The well-planned lift system includes the 3-mile, six-person Yastrebets gondola, which opens up a wealth of enjoyable runs.

Advanced (2 out of 5)

For the expert skier there is the testing World Cup run, one of the more challenging pistes in the Yastrebets area or the excellent skiing through the trees and off-piste.

Snowboarding (2 out of 5)

Borovets is one of the highest rideable areas in Europe with some well varied terrain. There are 45 kms of piste split into three areas with open pistes and some fun lines through the trees. The best spots to head for are those above 2500m and the runs under the gondola.

Apres Ski

Wide choice of cafés, bars and shops. Black Tiger, Buzz Bar, Night Clubs at Samokov and Rila. NB: Due to the high commission rates charged for the use of Credit Cards and Travellers Cheques, it is advisable to bring spending money in Sterling cash or use one of the two cashpoints in resort.

Eating Out

3-course evening meal approx. £7-9. There are Bulgarian evenings with local cuisine and folklore, addition to The Happy Duck, Franco¿s Pizza and Mama Cita's.
