This resort has twice hosted the Winter Olympics, Seefeld is an attractive village set on a sunny plateau close to the Tyrolean capital, Innsbruck. It is an international ski resort with separate ski areas for beginners and intermediates. It has an excellent range of shops, bars and cafés, a superb sports centre, excellent cross-country skiing facilities, excursions, sleigh rides, a casino, etc. With the 'Happy Ski Card' area lift pass you can also 'Ski 2 Countries' as the pass includes Garmisch-Partenkirchen/Zugspitze in Germany (connected by train/ski bus - local charge), home of Germany's only World Cup downhill run. Seefeld is an excellent choice for groups of mixed ability skiers or groups including non-skiers.
For a gentle introduction to skiing, Seefeld's superb ski school and slopes are highly recommended. Lessons begin on the Geigenbühel beginners' area, perfect for mastering those snowplough turns.
