Honeymoon packages in Venice
Venice is the ultimate honeymoon destination. What could be more romantic than drifting up to an intimate canal-side restaurant near St Marks, in a gondola made for two? One of the most cultured honeymoon locations in the world, we at The Co-operative Travel have honeymoon packages in Venice to suit all budgets – so let us serenade you.
Venice won’t be a honeymoon destination forever. Sipping wine at an intimate little cafe near the Grand Canal, as misty water laps gently at the windows, is a romantic vision – but it’s proven that the city is slowly sinking beneath the waves. The time is fast approaching when Venice will be wiped from the itinerary of companies offering wedding packages abroad – unless the bride wants to get married in scuba gear.
There’s a long way to go before that happens, though. The Renaissance splendour of St Marks Square, the priceless art works of the Gallerie dell' Accademia, the churches of the Zattere waterfront and the magnificence of the Ducale Palace are still yours to enjoy – by foot or canal.
When to book your honeymoon package in Venice
If you’re planning a summer wedding, those who want to avoid the heat would best save the city for a 6-month anniversary present. Supported on 100 tiny islets within a sheltered lagoon, Venice becomes hot between July and September. Late autumn to early spring are the best times to book.
Honeymoon packages are often booked for the Venice Carnival, which takes place each January and February. You’ll be vying with a lot of other couples, though – so book early. Pre-festival time the city is almost deserted – and very cheap.

Tips on planning your honeymoon
If you’re travelling in winter, you’ll need to pack sweaters and waterproofs alongside your evening gear. The city mists can be quite cool but still, you can always warm up together in your personal hot tub afterwards.
Although Venice may not the cheapest city, there are ways to keep the costs down. Tailor-made honeymoon packages, inclusive of gondola rides and classical concert tickets, are available even in the low season and there are cheap breaks available – and the city has a year-round program of arts events. A stroll over the Bridge of Sighs, your footsteps amplified by the morning mists, followed by a warming hot chocolate at an intimate canal trattoria, is a romantic dream come true.
We at The Co-operative Travel recommend Venice as the most romantic and beautiful of honeymoon destinations and a truly unforgettable start to married life.
