Honeymoon packages in Phuket

The island of Phuket is Thailand’s top honeymoon destination, with the perfect blend of peaceful tropical beaches, beautiful scenery, exciting watersports and an eclectic nightlife. We at The Co-operative Travel rate Phuket as one of the best value honeymoon locations there is.

Connected to the Thai mainland by a bridge, Phuket is Thailand’s most developed tourist area. This is something that seems strangely at odds with its reputation as a top honeymoon destination.

However, development has been done in an environmentally-aware way, and away from the tourist beaches and nightclubs of Patong there are few highly developed areas. Instead, you will find romantic unspoilt beaches, stylish all-inclusive resorts, and protected natural areas teeming with rare flora and fauna. This has made Phuket the leading choice for those planning beach weddings abroad.

The best honeymoon locations on Phuket

Patong Beach has a reputation for being noisy, overcrowded, and crammed with bars, nightclubs and fast food restaurants. Yet away from the tourist beaches are some of the best honeymoon locations on the island. Luxury bungalows, hot tubs, private pools and beaches, intimate spa treatments and a choice of 5-star restaurants show you a totally different side to Patong – and you’re within easy reach of the clubs and attractions of Bangla Road.

However, with over 500 square miles of stunning countryside and secluded beaches, there are dozens of romantic honeymoon locations scattered across the island, all offering outstanding luxury at very low cost.

Karon is the second largest beach on the island, but more laid-back than Patong. Its beautiful white sand and range of chic nightclubs, restaurants and bars has made it a favourite honeymoon destination. The Pansea Beach peninsula also has a number of honeymoon resorts, and is a favourite for beach weddings.

Tips for booking a honeymoon in Phuket

Much as you may be tempted to hire a moped – don’t! Thailand’s roads are notoriously unsafe, and you don’t want to start married life as an accident statistic. Enjoy the excursions laid on by the resorts, use footpaths where possible, and get a taxi to run you to the clubs – it’s the safe, sensible alternative.

The weather is at its most pleasant between November and March. At other times it can be very hot and humid – but the sea breezes help cool things down. Try to avoid booking a honeymoon package in May, which is the start of the monsoon season. After that, the rain becomes more sporadic, with temperatures of around 29 – 30oC and some extremely good deals on honeymoon packages.

With an almost year-round tropical climate, and a host of things to do, we at The Co-operative Travel recommend Phuket as a honeymoon destination.
