Many of the bars, restaurants and shops have been in the same families for generations, but the resort has also embraced new trends. Things to do on Koh Samui

Most newlyweds are content to stay in the comfort of their resort, perhaps taking a stroll round the pretty market or Fisherman’s Village area of Bophut.

However, the island has a number of beautiful beaches where you can swim, scuba dive and snorkel – or relax on the sand. There are a few jet skis, but the emphasis is on tranquillity. Most honeymoon packages include an elephant trek into the interior, where there are romantic waterfalls, forests and mountain paths to explore.
