Holidays to Zante - Fun in the sun!

Zante holidays on a budget

Self catering is a good choice if you want cheap holidays. The lush farming landscape of Zante means an abundance of restaurants and shops, all selling locally grown – and very cheap - produce.

You don’t necessarily need a car either. The island’s excellent bus service is a budget-conscious way to get around, with good connections to the vibrant capital of Zante Town.

The island ranges from lively, party-going resorts like Zante Town and Laganas, to secluded and traditional destinations like Alykanas. Excursions are widely available, with the “round robin” tour being hot favourite. The caves of Skinari and Keri, and boat trips to neighbouring islands are also popular.

The fabulous sandy sweep of Laganus Bay makes this a popular choice for package holidays, offering sunbathing and water sports by day, lively clubs and bars at night.

A quieter option is nearby Kalamaki. Famous for its population of loggerhead turtles, the gently sloping beach is ideal for young families, as motorised boats are banned. Keen walkers can explore the buggy-friendly lanes and olive groves, or hike inland to Mount Skopos. At night, there’s a good selection of tavernas and restaurants, and a couple of low-key discos.

Tsilivi and Argassi

Tsilivi is another popular resort, with a wonderful beach backed by olive groves.  For teens, waterskiing, windsurfing and paragliding are popular, and the clubs of Zakynthos Town are just three miles away. Couples will enjoy romantic walks on the tranquil, secluded beaches further south.

Argassi is a lively beach resort backed by a verdant mountain landscape. It features a gently sloping beach that’s perfect for paddling, as well as a petting farm, reptile house and water park. 

For the more active, there are watersports and hikes up Mount Pliny; a breathtaking – but rewarding - experience. Boat trips to the Blue Caves and Smugglers Cove are also available.
