Zante might be the last name in an alphabetical ordering of favourite holiday hotspots, but a holiday in Zante should certainly be the first on your list if you’re looking for a great Greek escape.
Known as Zakynthos locally, Zante is steeped in natural attractions, from the loggerhead turtles under the sea to the famous shipwreck at Smugglers Cove (the one on all of the postcards!). Visit the Blue Caves in White rock, a series of geological formations that have created a unique seascape of natural arches and admire the colour of the water in its deepest hollows, a deep azure blue which is most striking in the morning when the light is at its brightest.

Tsilivi is a popular resort, with a wonderful beach backed by olive groves. For families, waterskiing, windsurfing and paragliding are popular, and for couples or groups the clubs of Zante Town are just three miles away. Couples will enjoy romantic walks on the tranquil, secluded beaches further south so this truly is a destination for everyone

Argassi is a lively beach resort backed by a beautiful mountain landscape. It features a gently sloping beach that’s perfect for paddling, as well as a petting farm, reptile house and water park. For the more active, there are water sports and hikes up Mount Pliny; a breathtaking – but rewarding - experience. Boat trips to the Blue Caves and Smugglers Cove are also available from here
