Sanibel Holidays

GENERAL

For a less commercialised, more relaxed Florida beach holiday, head to the island of Sanibel, and let The Co-operative Travel take you there!

Bereft of the bright neon lights that you'll find all over most of the rest of Florida, Sanibel, off the south-west coast of the Florida Keys, relies more on its natural charms and features to attract visitors.

Unspoilt is the only word to describe Sanibel's beaches, where you will still find long-neglected pieces of driftwood, along with shells and sponges which nature has simply deposited there, as if to say "you'll be safe and happy here."

A Sanibel package holiday or all-inclusive holiday is an all-year-round option, thanks to its sub-tropical climate. January to late May are comfortably warm, while the sun really kicks into gear later on, and you'd be well advised to seek out plenty of places to find shade.

Peaceful times in Sanibel

Sanibel is reached by a narrow causeway, meaning that seclusion and peacefulness can be yours, making it easy for you to completely unwind.

Dining options cover all bases, from a casual 'top-up' to a full six-course gourmet meal, and understandably for a resort where the sea is all-pervading, seafood plays a big part. There are also hints of the area's diverse culture, with Italian and Caribbean influences also making their presence felt.

A good word to describe Sanibel is 'refuge', and it's no accident that this is part of the title of its premier animal park, the J.N. 'Ding' Darling National Wildlife Refuge. This is a magnificent day out which can be enjoyed by car, bike or on foot and even by Kayak for those wishing to get really close to the native wildlife.

Also worthwhile is a trip to the island's most notable landmark, the Sanibel Lighthouse to the east of the island. However you decide to spend your time you cannot help but feel rejuvenated by the beautiful surroundings of a Sanibel holiday.

Check with The Co-operative Travel for late deals and offers on a Sanibel cheap holiday or last-minute holiday, then get ready to simply immerse yourself in a wealth of natural riches.
