Seville holidays - Spain

The best tapas in the whole of Andalucía

Located in southern Spain on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Seville is the largest city in Andalucía and has plenty going on to justify its position as the region’s capital. If history and culture are your passions then Seville can deliver in spades, while couples looking for a romantic getaway can’t fail to be taken with the city’s narrow, winding streets and secluded cafes and restaurants.

Make for Seville in spring and get caught up in the excitement of the Feria de Abril festival on your package holiday or all-inclusive holiday, when you can enjoy six days of dancing, eating and drinking. Or fly in for Holy Week immediately before and join the crowds to watch processions of floats decorated with religious images of Christ and the Virgin Mary head down the city’s streets.

One of the most popular attractions in the city is the Cathedral of Seville, the third largest church in the whole of Europe and home to the largest altarpiece in the world, which was the life’s work of one man and depicts 45 carved scenes from the life of Christ.

The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum is another must see. Its origins date back to 1908 and the museum is now home to over 8,000 works by artists including Goya, El Greco, Gentileschi and Van Dyck. Paintings, sculptures and works on paper cover a period from the 12th century to the modern day. See more of the city by taking a walk through the beautiful gardens at the royal Mudejar palace, also known as the Alcazar.
