Albufeira holidays provide all that's best about the magnificent Algarve coastline. There's great sunbathing in hot and dry summers on superb beaches washed by gently rolling Atlantic waves. A wide range of sporting activities includes some of Europe's finest golf courses. And there are excellent hotels, bars and restaurants in both the atmospheric old town and the holiday resort's more recently developed Montechoro area with its lively nightlife.

There's something for everyone with holidays to Albufeira, which is little more than 20 miles from Faro|faro airport and an easy drive if you opt for car hire. Or if you have booked one of the many cheap holidays to Albufeira which come with a transfer then your journey from the airport will be swift and you will soon be savouring the delights of the resort.

When eating out in one of the many splendid restaurants why not try traditional Algarve dishes such as cataplana (steamed shellfish), caldeirada (fish stew), or the ever-popular grilled sardines - wonderful eaten with an accompanying glass of Portugal's very own Vino Verde wine. And when the sun goes down Albufeira has quite a choice of bars, discos and nightclubs.

Holidays in Albufeira

If you're feeling energetic during the sun-filled daytime there are any number of water-sports available, top class tennis courts too as well as the many golf courses - it's no wonder the country has been dubbed Sportugal! For a more relaxing time there are lovely cliff-top walks and, in the old town especially, meandering streets to wander and Moorish architecture to admire.

Trees bearing almonds, figs and oranges are in profusion in the countryside around Albufeira while in and around the holiday resort the beautifully flowering bougainvillea adds colour to gardens big and small. But perhaps the most appealing aspect of package holidays to Albufeira is the area's 20 or so beaches, some of them stretching wide and long while others are in secluded coves - and all of them perfect for sunbathing and swimming.

Albufeira is also a good base for touring the Algarve should you wish to see historic towns such as Silves and Portimao or to get a taste of other seaside resorts like Praia da Rocha and Lagos.

Whatever Albufeira holiday deals appeal to you, check first at The Co-operative Travel - you could grab a fantastic bargain on the Algarve coast.
