Just off the east coast of Spain, Menorca benefits from a glorious Mediterranean climate and splendid Balearic hospitality. Even though holidays to Menorca may not be as popular as to Majorca and Ibiza, there are more beaches on the island than on both its more illustrious sister Balearics.

Other family friendly resorts on Menorca include Cala'n Bosch and near neighbour Cala Blanca, both situated on the western coast of the island south of Cuitadella. Cala'n Bosch features a superb marina and two delightful beaches. It is a lively resort particularly favoured by British tourists and that’s reflected by evening entertainment geared to UK tastes. At restaurants here you’ll definitely find a plentiful supply of mayonnaise for you salad or chips as it originated on this island in the 18th century.

Other smaller resorts of note on the island include Santo Thomas, Cala n Porter, Punta Prima, and Cala Galdana. All are situated on the south coast closer to the capital Mahon offering a range of villa accommodation, studio flats and hotel accommodation.

Mahon is home to the island’s airport and also the second deepest natural harbour in the world, only eclipsed by Pearl Harbour on Hawaii. This is the starting point for most Menorca holidays and as the island is only 30 miles long, transfers to hotels and apartments don’t take long.  It will certainly take no longer than an hour to reach the opposite side of the island!
