Our Retail Director, Trevor Davis' is recently enjoyed a bargain holiday on the Red Sea and you can read his daily blog here
Whether it’s playing on the beach at Sharm-el-Sheikh, exploring the temples at Luxor or cruising down the Nile, we at The Co-operative Travel have package holidays to cover it.
Taking a Nile Cruise from Luxor
Egypt holidays are the one place where kids don’t mind a bit of culture. The Mummy films probably helped, so it’s worth spending a day or two exploring the museums and ancient monuments to see it all for real. Luxor temple and the ruins of Karnak are a good introduction to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx – unforgettable when seen from the back of a camel.
Cheap family holidays can be booked as a twin centre option, giving kids the opportunity to play on the Red Sea beaches after they’ve been with mum and dad on a Nile Cruise – all of which leave from Luxor. Cruises include stop-off points at the various attractions, where a qualified Egyptologist will give you the low down on Tutankhamen’s tomb, the Valley of the Kings and the Pyramids. At Aswan you can learn to belly dance like a native, as well as visit the ruins.
The Red Sea resorts – Hurghada, Taba and Sharm el Sheikh
All inclusive holidays in Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh invariably include scuba diving – or at least a ride on a glass-bottomed boat. The reefs here are among the most beautiful in the world. Other sports include sailing, snorkelling, deep-sea fishing, golf and shopping in Cairo.
Book cheap family holidays to Sharm el Sheikh in the cooler, off-peak season, and you have the benefit of secluded beaches at Sharks Bay, a favourite for families. Na’ama Bay offers sophisticated bars and casinos for the older set.
Taba Heights is a purpose-built resort on the border of Israel. Beautiful beaches are framed by a breathtaking mountain backdrop, and there are a number of good diving schools. The calm waters are a haven for those booking family trips, with even tiny tots able to play in safety, and the old town of Taba has an interesting monastery to visit.
Package holidays in Egypt are so affordable that it’s no longer a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The cheap holidays we have at The Co-operative Travel will have you returning again and again.
