Experience some winter sunshine on a december holiday

Book an all-inclusive holiday or package holiday for December at The Co-operative Travel and escape the winter blues.

With the end of the year approaching fast, you might well have some holiday time to use up before December 31. Maybe you just can’t wait to escape to a warm climate and feel the sun on your back, leaving cold winter days far behind. Whatever your reason for a getaway, The Co-operative Travel has plenty of suggestions to get you thinking.

visit the cayman islands for a holiday in the sunshine

Known for banking institutions and being a tax haven, the Cayman Islands may not be the first place you’d consider for a holiday. However, there are a good number of reasons for visiting this Caribbean island paradise.

A total of three islands make up this British Overseas Territory – Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac. The temperature during December tends to average around 25 degrees - a distinct improvement on the UK.

Kick back and relax on Seven Mile Beach, where many holiday resorts are located, or take to the water and explore underwater wrecks and marine wildlife. The dramatic scenery of the islands makes it a wonderful destination for a relaxing break, although nightclubs and bars on the Caymans are more than capable of providing heady nights to remember.

enjoy some nightlife in thailand

Another dream location comes in the form of Koh Samui, Thailand. The island is just a short flight from the hectic streets of Bangkok, although ferry services from the mainland are also in operation.

Chaweng is regarded by some as the most beautiful beach on the island, with its perfect white sands and clear azure waters. Head out onto the beach early in the morning and you really get the chance to appreciate the beauty of this place before the crowds descend.

Once the day begins you can choose to join the crowd and work on your tan or pick from a huge range of activities including kayaking, windsurfing, water skiing, tennis, bowling and go carting. If you want to learn to dive in the clear waters, then head for a professional diving centre.

After all that activity you’re sure to have built up an appetite. Traditional Thai food is readily available, although it may be too spicy for some. For those with a more European palette, a pizza delivery service also operates on the island! Once night descends there are discos, clubs and bars and live music sessions to keep you entertained.

Turn up on Koh Samui when there’s a full moon and you can join up to 20,000 people at the Koh Phangan beach party where international and Thai DJs will keep you dancing all night.

spend your winter in les arcs in savoie

If warm weather is the last thing you’re looking for this winter then what about heading off to the slopes and the French ski area of Les Arcs in Savoie. With five resorts to choose from and over 100 runs, you won’t be short of ways to challenge your skiing ability.

At the Arc 2000 resort, you’ll be able to enjoy guaranteed snow at the foot of Aiguille Rouge, the highest peak in the resort at 3,226m. There are runs suitable for beginners and more challenging trails for those with a real sense of adventure.

Head south from Les Arcs along the D902 and you’ll come to the resorts of Tinges and Val-D’isere. Both resorts share the ski area of L’Espace Killy which boasts over 190 miles of pistes, 150 shops and over 100 bars. When you’ve enjoyed your day on the powder, but aren’t quite ready to put your feet up, then you might like to try some ice diving, dog sledding, skating or ice climbing. Thanks to their altitude, snow is guaranteed at the resorts of Tinges and Val-D’isere, so there’ll be no need to keep your fingers crossed on the plane over.

enjoy the shopping experience on offer in los angeles

If a city break is what you’re looking for then how about heading to America and soaking up some US rays in Los Angeles. The average temperature in the City of Angels is around 17 degrees during December, making it considerably warmer than the UK.

If a trip to the beach is in order then Santa Monica should fit the bill. Enjoy swimming, surfing and volleyball down by the sands, or head into town and browse the town’s art galleries or treat yourself to some shopping in the many boutiques.

If you develop a taste for spending, then make for the centre of Los Angeles and Pine Avenue. You’ll have no problem whiling away the hours here in the street’s many shops, cafes and bars.

Of course Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, and if it’s stars you’re looking for then head to Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street to see the celebrity Walk of Fame and more buskers and street vendors than you ever have in your life. Film buffs might also want to visit the Hollywood Studio Museum or take a tour around Universal Studios.

Whatever you’re tastes you’ll find something in this diverse city to suit, ensuring you have the holiday of a lifetime. The Co-operative Travel is here to help and so if you need any advice or help picking a destination this December, make sure you browse our website or give us a call.
