Costa Almeria holidays
If you are looking for unspoilt Spain at its best, head to Costa Almeria for idyllic fishing villages and hidden coves spread out along 200 miles of glorious coast.
Costa Almeria is rich in history and culture and home to an assortment of attractions. Tucked inbetween the Sierra Nevada mountains and the Mediterranean Sea on the South East coast, it has a true Andalucian vibe.
Top of many visitor’s lists are the incredible troglodyte cave villages and Europe’s only desert known as the ‘badlands’ of Almeria. (The latter was the 1960s location for various spaghetti westerns and an epic production of Lawrence of Arabia which starred Peter O’Toole.)
If you fancy a beach holiday in Costa Almeria, some popular resorts are Mojacar, Almerimar, Anguadulce, and Roquetas de Mar. Visit the port city of Almeria, where you’ll find a place overlooked by an imposing Arab Fortress or head for one of the area’s natural parks such as Cabo de Gata.
In addition to the beach and all of the sights, the weather also provides a tempting reason to holiday on the Costa Almeria with summer temperatures hovering around an agreeable 25°C. With average summer sunshine of around 10 hours per day it keeps even the keenest sun worshipper happy!
Still one of the lesser visited of Spain’s Costas, Costa Almeria has a distinctly unspoilt air about it. There is definitely a more traditional Spanish ambience along this coast and although resorts still cater admirably for British tourists… those who are a little more adventurous and wish to experience the real Andalucía will not have to look far.
