Sombreros and siestas
Cancun is the perfect package holiday destination for couples, singles and families looking for a relaxing break in the sun. All inclusive holidays in Cancun are particularly popular with a varied selection of hotels available to suit all tastes.
The centre of this resort has a party reputation, but there are also plenty of secluded romantic beaches along the coast for honeymoons in Mexico and for family holidays there is an amazing array of things to do. Little ones can paddle in the safe waters of the Laguna Nichupte, while teens can enjoy fishing, diving, jet skiing, white water rafting, 4X4 jungle tours or boat trips to the “turtle island” of Mujeres.
Great for water sports, boat trips, diving, snorkelling and fishing or get active and enjoy some of the longest zip lines in Mexico, go mountain biking, drive through the jungle in open top jeeps and swim in the underwater sinkholes. Do as little or as much as you like in Cancun, it’s your holiday after all!
The Mayan archaeological sites are well worth a visit whether you are into your history or not. Chichen Itza, Tulum and Coba are all within easy reach of Cancun by bus, or car or on one of the many tours run by local agents. Little ones will love exploring and grown ups will be fascinated by the Mayan culture.
Puerto Morelos is a friendly, laid-back fishing village just 35km from Cancun. A million miles away from the glitz and glamour of the main heart of Cancun, this tranquil destination will transport you into national park paradise. You can see superb wildlife, snorkel the coastline, go quad biking or zipline through the jungle, whatever floats your boat, you will be guaranteed an action packed day!
Mujeres (Turtle Island)
Isla Mujeres, is an island but feels more like a village with its church, main square & town hall. With lots of handicraft shops selling local Mexican products, you can shop, enjoy a drink in a bar with live music, visit downtown Isla, then watch the sun set on the beach while you enjoy some of the famed Mexican cuisine!
Isla Mujeres is also home to giant sea turtles, which lay their eggs on its soft sand, from May to September. Seeing hundreds of sea turtles that survive thanks to the care and love of the islanders is a unique experience great if you are on a family holiday in Cancun.
Visit the Cancun underwater Museum, or for an amazing experience, head to Il Kil, a cenote that is open to the sky with the water level about 26 metres (85 ft) below ground level. There is a carved stairway down to a swimming platform here surrounded by small waterfalls.
Above land, you can enjoy a wide range of water sports, tee off on championship golf courses, visit an eco-park, or just lie back either on the beach or at a luxurious spa
