For a picturesque and historic entrance to Kaleiçi enter via Hadrian's Gate and explore its narrow meandering streets to your heart’s content.

Fethiye
For a more authentic Turkish experience head to Fethiye. The Harbour area is now a modernised resort with fantastic restaurants and bars.
You can take boat trips out to neighbouring islands or use it as a base from which to explore local sites such as the Butterfly Valley, Olu Deniz or Lake Koycegiz.
