Visit Zermatt 'for spectacular scenery and slopes'

Brits hoping to book a last-minute ski holiday and hit the slopes over the coming months may wish to consider taking a break in Zermatt.

Writing for the Telegraph, Chris Gill and Dave Watts noted that it boasts "high and extensive slopes", as well as stunning scenery that is dominated by Switzerland's famous Matterhorn mountain.

"The village is a mixture of ancient barns, chocolate-box chalets, grand 19th-century hotels and modern buildings, most in traditional style but some decidedly funky," the pair commented.

They added that Zermatt offers reliable snow, a nightlife that will suit most people and some of the world's finest mountain restaurants.

What is more, the resort is linked to the Italian region of Cervinia.

Meanwhile, Brits planning to book a cheap winter break may be interested to learn that the Ski Club of Great Britain has launched a new snow report application for the iPhone.
