Top destinations for late season skiing revealed

The ski season may be nearing an end, but there are still many resorts where holidaymakers will find good snow covering for at least another month, it has been claimed.

Writing for the Irish Independent, Tom Hall said travellers planning a late winter break should generally opt for a high altitude resort or one beside a glacier.

"Cervinia in the Italian Alps is one of Europe's highest ski resorts and prides itself on having snow throughout the year. It has slopes for all levels and lots of reasonably priced package deals," he commented.

Another destination recommended by Mr Hall is Obergurgl in Austria, which has old-fashioned charm and is a great spot for families.

Budget airline easyJet recently compiled a list of this year's most popular ski destinations, with French resorts such as Chamoniox, Avoriaz and Meribel dominating the top five.

Other hotspots included Les Arcs, Kitzbuhel in Austria and Arinsol in Andorra.
