'Spend less' on ski holidays

There are a number of steps holidaymakers can take to dramatically reduce the cost of their overseas ski breaks, it has been claimed.

Alison Steed, editor of mymoneydiva.com, said if travellers are not careful they could end up paying over the odds for "all sorts of things".

"Things like hiring ski equipment when you get there, if you have children perhaps you want them to go into ski school so you are having time on the slopes by yourself – that kind of thing," she commented.

Ms Steed advised holidaymakers to take as much of their own ski equipment with them as possible in order to keep hire fees to a minimum.

Furthermore, there are some excellent deals available on second-hand ski clothing and boots, she added.

According to AA Travel Insurance, holidaymakers are likely to find excellent value for money in lesser-known ski resorts such as Chevalier in France and Arosa in Switzerland.
