'Shop around' when booking a ski holiday in France

The cost of taking a ski holiday in France can vary considerably from one resort to the next, new research has revealed.

According to Confused.com, those attending ski school in Courcheval can expect to pay around 43 per cent more than they would in Samoens.

Furthermore, it was revealed that ski passes in Courcheval are around 23 per cent more expensive than in neighbouring resorts, while equipment is priced at 74 per cent to hire.

Steve Williams, head of travel insurance at the website, commented: "Looking at the extras people will have to pay, once they get there, gives us an idea of where the French, financial hotspots for skiers are."

It is essential that people budget correctly in order to afford all the extras once they arrive at their destination, he added.

Speaking recently, Peter Harrison, an expert at Moneysupermarket.com, said travellers should make sure they shop around for the best exchange rates and avoid buying currency at the airport.
