Price drops 'making French ski resorts more attractive'
Popular resorts such as Courcheval and La Plagne are proving popular with British skiers this season as a result of price reductions, it has been claimed.
Vanessa Fisher, spokesperson for the Ski Club of Great Britain, noted that tour operators were concerned that French resorts would miss out this year as a result of the economic downturn, which prompted many to lower the cost of packages.
"Places like Meribel and Val d'Isere, they fulfil all the criteria for what British Skiers are looking for. They've got large ski areas and the resorts are often connected to somewhere else," she commented.
Due to the heavy snow that has fallen this winter, conditions are still likely to be good right through the Easter
holidays.
According to budget airline easyJet, some of the top destinations for British skiers this winter include, Chamonix, Meribel, Kitzbuhel and Soll in Austria.
