La Plagne plans a bumper winter season
Events for this 2011-12 winter ski season in the French resort of La Plagne have been announced this week.
The
holiday spot will celebrate its 50th anniversary in December and a whole host of events and attractions are being laid on for visitors.
One of the biggest days will undoubtedly be December 21st as that is the resort's official birthday and a multitude of live shows plus a visual display exploring the history of skiing and more is set to take place.
Ten days later, on New Year's Eve, visitors will be able to boogie on down as the Plagne-Bellecote area will be transformed into a giant dancefloor.
Into 2012, La Plagne will host the Ice Climbing World Cup, which is scheduled for February 3rd and 4th.
And then in April the fifth annual Urban Plagne Festival is set to take place, which will include professional skier and snowboarders creating a one-off movie about their freestyle tips and tricks.
The downside to the region, according to the Daily Telegraph's travel guide, is that it's so popular that you have to endure the odd queue.
