Head to Italy 'for a relaxing ski holiday'

Skiers looking for breathtaking scenery, uncrowded slopes and a relaxed atmosphere may wish to consider a break in Italy this winter.

Writing for the Telegraph, ski expert Gabriella Le Breton described skiing in Italy as a "sensuous experience".

"The skiing is remarkably diverse, as are the resorts, which range from glamorous Cortina d'Ampezzo to sleepy little Alagna and the family haven of Plan de Corones," she noted.

According to Ms Le Breton, ski holidays in Italy are generally cheaper than elsewhere in Europe, making the country an excellent option for those who want to take a cheap break this winter.

She added that the best destination for food lovers is Courmayeur, while Madonna di Campiglio offers a "quintessentially Italian ski experience".

Writing for the Guardian earlier this week, ski coach Warren Smith said holidaymakers can improve their skiing ability and reduce their chances of sustaining an injury by exercising and warming up before hitting the slopes.
