Europe's best ski festivals revealed
The best ski festivals in Europe have been uncovered by the Telegraph, revealing where to find the best music, comedy and food on the Continent’s slopes.
Festivities start in January at Alta Badia in Italy. The Chef’s Cup sees 400 of the world’s finest chefs assemble in the heart of the Dolomites to celebrate haute cuisine. With three Michelin-starred restaurants in the area, visitors can watch, try and dine in culinary delights.
Shortly after, Crans Montana in Switzerland hosts the Momentum Ski Festival. It combines the great ski slopes of Crans Montana with local guides and ski experts.
March is the month for music on the slopes, starting with Meribel Live in France. The week-long event celebrates French and British music on some of the best ski slopes in the world. Avoriaz also has its own music festivities, hosting the annual Jazz Up festival in the Portes du Soleil ski area. The festival has attracted quite a following in the past and this year looks like more of the same, with 40 concerts being held in local restaurants and bars.
If you prefer comedy entertainment, Altitude festival in Austria’s Mayrhofen welcomes some of the biggest names in comedy to take over the vibrant resort. This year’s acts include renowned comedians Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle, Ed Byrne, Marcus Brigstocke and Al Murray.
