Holidays in Turkey and Egypt 'continue to be popular'

Brits are still keen to take holidays abroad, despite the current economic situation.

This is the opinion of Travel Weekly editor Lucy Huxley, who said the travel industry is starting to see some positive signs of recovery after a tough year in 2009.

"Customers who may have skipped their annual holiday last year to save money appear to be keen to make sure their main break is ring-fenced in 2010," she commented.

Ms Huxley noted that non-eurozone destinations such as Egypt and Turkey are continuing to prove popular with British holidaymakers, as people try to make their money stretch further.

There are also some great deals to be had on packages to family favourites such as Spain and Florida, she added.

A recent poll carried out by First Rate Exchange Services revealed that 56 per cent of Britons are planning to take a holiday overseas in 2010.
