Visitors to Turkey 'set to number 30m this year'

Interest in cheap holidays to Turkey is expected to increase the number of visitors to the country who want to experience the meeting point between the West and the East.

The UN World Tourism Organisation's research shows that Turkey is currently ranked seven in the world's most-visited destinations, and it is not hard to see why.

With beautiful landscapes and miles of relaxing beaches, people who take flights to Turkey will not be short of things to do and see.

Ertugrul Gunay, Turkey's minister of culture and tourism, recently predicted that the country will have welcomed 30 million holidaymakers by the end of 2011, as the first seven months of this year had already seen a ten per cent increase in visitors compared with the same period of 2010.

British tourists going on summer holidays to Turkey will need a visa to enter the country, which can usually be purchased on arrival at the Turkish airport.
