Turkey holidays 'popular for sun seekers'
Turkey
holidays are reportedly becoming one of the most popular options with Britons heading overseas in search of sun.
London Stansted highlighted the ongoing success of the country following the news that the airport will receive four new links to both Turkey and Greece this summer.
Travellers will be able to catch
flights to the Greek destinations of Thessaloniki and Rhodes with Ryanair, while Pegasus Airlines will fly to Izmir and Anadolu Jet will serve the Turkish capital of Ankara from Stansted.
Other services are available to regional
summer holiday hotspots such as Antalya, Bodrum and Crete.
Nick Barton, the London airport's managing director, said: "Links to Greece have always been extremely popular and Turkey continues to grow as one of the leading destinations for guaranteed sun on short-haul travel.
"EasyJet ventured into the Turkish markets last year, launching successful services from Stansted to Bodrum and Dalaman, and we're sure these new scheduled routes will be just as popular."
Stansted was recently voted the leading base for low-cost
flights at the 2011 World Airport Awards.
