Travellers go Brazil nuts
More and more people are getting a real taste of dancing the samba by visiting Brazil.
Some 799,763 people visited the South American nation during the month of October, according to BreakingTravelNews.com.
It was a record for the country's tourism industry and brought in a mammoth £340 million.
According to data from the Central Bank of Brazil, that takes the total tourist spend in Brazil up to around £3.6 billion, 16.08 per cent more than was accrued during the same ten months in 2010 (£3 billion).
Flavio Dino, president of Embratur, told the travel website that it was great to see international tourism flourish in the country despite the world being the grip of a major financial crisis.
He added: “The international promotion of Brazil as a tourist destination has clearly played a big role in these new findings.”
Brazil was recently voted third in British Airways
winter holiday poll behind London and Jamaica.
