See 'vibrant' Izmir on a Turkey holiday

Britons planning cheap holidays to Turkey this year have the option to visit the city of Izmir, which is now served by easyJet from London Gatwick.

The airline, which is offering two weekly flights to Izmir, described the destination as a "vibrant holiday choice" for travellers.

People heading to the city can embark on excursions to take in its mountainous surroundings or visit the various museums and archaeological sites that represent its rich history.

There are also plenty of beaches along the Aegean coast, as well as bazaars where visitors can pick up some gifts and souvenirs.

Paul Simmons, easyJet's UK director, said: "Turkey is a popular holiday destination for … year-round sun-seekers.

"By adding Izmir to our ever-expanding network of routes, we're making it even more accessible to passengers. As one of the most popular tourist cities in the country, it is a perfect holiday choice."

EasyJet is the largest airline based at London Gatwick and now offers flights to a total of 92 destinations from the airport.ADNFCR-2580-ID-800534597-ADNFCR
