Package holidays to Turkey 'increasingly popular'
People are starting to take more foreign
holidays following last year's staycation trend, with
package holidays to Turkey proving to be particularly popular.
Recent statistics from ACI Europe found that the number of passengers who landed in Istanbul was up by 18.3 per cent in January 2010, compared to the same time last year.
These figures are backed up by the recent studies of Gfk Retail and Technology, which indicated that travellers from Germany and Holland, as well as those from Britain, are eager to see what Turkey has to offer them.
It was not the only family
holiday destination that is seeing an increasing number of visitors, as Madrid-Barajas in Spain saw a rise of 9.6 per cent during the same time frame.
With all passengers numbers beginning to pick up across Europe by 3.9 per cent, Olivier Jankovec, director general ACI Europe commented that "recovery is likely to remain a pattern for the months ahead".
