Holidays to Turkey 'proving popular'
Holidays to Turkey are proving increasingly popular with British travellers, it has been claimed.
Irfan Onal, director of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office UK, noted that Istanbul has become an in-demand city break destination, with visitors able to combine culture, food and nightlife.
"Many tour operators have begun new tours to Turkey or expanded their programmes in response to rising demand and interest. A host of airlines also increased
flights to Turkey for the summer 2010 season [and] increased capacity to support growth in demand for
flights to Turkey," he commented.
Mr Onal noted that Cappadocia in central Turkey is also popular due to its unique landscape and hiking opportunities.
Some of the other activities British families can enjoy on
holidays to Turkey include horse riding, ballooning and white-water rafting, he added.
Figures published earlier this year by the Turkish Directorate General of State Airports Authority revealed that the country welcomed 44.6 million passengers during the first half of 2010.
