Holidays to Turkey 'cheaper than UK breaks'
Taking a holiday to Turkey can be cheaper than having a break in the UK, according to new research.
Figures compiled by Tesco Bank show that a week's accommodation, meals, car hire and expenses costs £1,819 for a family of four staying in Bodrum. This compares to £2,209 for a break in Brighton.
It is even cheaper to travel to countries such as Bulgaria, Poland and Slovenia, the Daily Mail reports.
"With the average cost of a
holiday for one week coming in at £2,076, a two per cent increase on last year, it is essential holidaymakers are not just looking into the cost of travel but also the expenses they are likely to incur once they are there," said John Howells, head of travel money at Tesco Bank.
A recent poll by
Holiday Extras revealed that British holidaymakers are prepared to pay a little more in order to travel in comfort to their destination.
More than 40 per cent of people between 18 and 25 said they would buy a more expensive plane ticket if food, extra legroom and entertainment is included.
