Holidays in Turkey 'offer great value for Brits'

Brits hoping to book a cheap package holiday this year may be interested to learn that Turkey offers excellent value for money, according to new research.

A study carried out by STA Travel revealed that travellers can purchase a pint of beer, a meal in a local restaurant, a night in a hostel, a bus ride and a sight-seeing bus tour for as little as £27.38.

Other destinations where British holidaymakers can get more bang for their buck include Mexico, South Africa and Thailand.

Commenting on the findings, John Constable, group managing director at STA Travel said: "With the eurozone set to be one of the most expensive regions in which to holiday, Brits will need to look further afield to secure a bargain while away and make their pound go further."

Recent figures released by ACI Europe revealed that an increasing number of people are booking package holidays to Turkey, with the number of people landing in Istanbul up by 18.3 per cent in January 2010, compared to the same time last year.
