Head to Turkey and Egypt 'for a taste of the exotic'
A
holiday in Turkey or Egypt is a great option for those who want to soak up some culture when travelling abroad, it has been claimed.
Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, said the country's countries offer British travellers a taste of the Middle East.
"I know Turkey's a European country but there's no denying that it has elements of Middle Eastern culture in it," he commented.
Mr Hall noted that although Turkey and Egypt are just a short
flight away, they are "radically different" to many other destinations.
They are steeped in history and are home to some wonderful people, he added.
Speaking recently, Travel Weekly editor Lucy Huxley said the travel industry is beginning to see some positive signs of recovery after a tough year in 2009.
She noted that non-eurozone destinations such as Turkey and Egypt are continuing to attract British holidaymakers who are looking to get more bang for their buck.
