Countries outside of the eurozone 'offer excellent value'

Non-eurozone destinations continue to offer excellent value for money for British holidaymakers, it has been claimed.

Jonathan Cudworth, director of product management for Expedia, said holiday hotspots such as Egypt and Turkey are likely to be popular with travellers this year.

"Travel is still a priority, but consumers have become savvier when booking their holidays, shopping around and looking for the best value possible," he commented.

The US is also a great option for families looking to take a bargain long-haul break this year, Mr Cudworth added.

He noted that Las Vegas is a popular destination due to the low cost of hotel accommodation there.

According to the Thomson and First Choice Trends Report 2009, 80 per cent of people expect to take a holiday over the coming year.

Around half of those polled said they expect to spend the same in 2010 as they did in 2009.
