'Check travel insurance policies' before taking last minute holidays
Travellers have been advised to check all the issues that their travel insurance cover will protect them against, before they jet off on
holiday.
According to a study from Which?, those heading away on
last minute holidays to destinations like Turkey need to check that they are not left out of pocket by things they are not covered for.
Research carried out by the consumer group found that around half of companies would not pay out for travellers who missed their
flights after becoming stuck in heavy traffic on the way to the airport.
In addition to this, some tourists who find themselves stranded after their airline goes bust would also not be covered, with 59 per cent of insurers stating they would not pay out for this eventuality.
One group of people who would until recently find it hard to get
holiday insurance are cancer patients, who now have the option of taking out policies with specialist companies.
