Antalya visitors 'can combine a city break with a beach holiday'

Travellers visiting Antalya during cheap holidays to Turkey will have the opportunity to combine the benefits of a city break with those of a beach getaway, according to the national tourist board.

Joanna Marsh, a spokeswoman for the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, pointed out that Antalya is one of the country's biggest cities, but boasts an enviable location on the Mediterranean coast.

Visitors can therefore explore busy, active areas one day before heading to the beach for some relaxation the next.

"The other lovely thing about Antalya is that although it is a vibrant metropolis, the heart of the city is the old town of Kaleici - literally 'within the citadel' - still housed within the original city walls," added Ms Marsh.

"The old narrow streets are mostly pedestrianised and lead down to the charming, picturesque harbour."

People taking all inclusive holidays in this part of Turkey will also have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area and visit ancient cities such as Perge and Aspendos.
