Visit the Canaries 'for guaranteed sunshine'

Brits keen to soak up some sunshine during the winter months have been advised to take a break in the Canary Islands.

Paco Gutierrez, promotions executive from the Spanish Tourist Office, said destinations such as Lanzarote and Tenerife are as popular in the winter as they are in the summer.

He added that the Canaries have a great deal to offer British holidaymakers, as well as an excellent range of accommodation, with something to suit all budgets.

"The Canary Islands have a lot of spas with treatments and they use local produce like lava and aloe vera. [Consumers can] mix it up with other things like golf [and] shopping," Mr Gutierrez continued.

According to figures released by the Canary Islands Tourist Board earlier this month, around 41.6 per cent of the Brits who travel there on holiday are repeat visitors.
