Visit Loro Parque's newest attraction
Families taking holidays to Tenerife this year will have the opportunity to see Loro Parque's newest arrivals.
The animal attraction recently welcomed two baby Californian sea lions into the world, with the new cubs weighing in at ten kilos each.
"The cubs, two playful males, spend most of their time with their mothers swimming and playing in the roomy installations provided for them by Loro Parque. After up to one year of lactation they will start eating fish and become more independent," the attraction noted.
Loro Parque is currently running a competition to name the new sea lions.
The attraction was recently successful in breeding one of the world's rarest parrots.
Last seen in the wild in 2000, the spix's macaw is known for its impressive blue plumage. There are now just 73 left in captivity, making the birth of this chick a "major global environmental victory".
Dr David Waugh, director at the Loro Parque Foundation, said the attraction is dedicated to the survival of the species.
