Spain 'is top 2010 destination for Brits'
It seems that the British love affair with Spain is far from over.
According to
flight search site Skyscanner, the country is set to attract millions of UK holidaymakers over the coming year.
Malaga is the most searched for destination for British travellers, followed by Alicante, the company revealed.
Other places that are proving popular this year include Palma, Faro, Amsterdam and Tenerife, as well as Greece.
Skyscanner co-founder and director Barry Smith commented: "The rise of Athens by nine places was a surprise result because rioting paralysed the country at the end of February and grounded all
flights. Perhaps the old adage 'no publicity is bad publicity' rings true here."
Ian Bradley, a spokesman for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, recently suggested that people are beginning to travel more now that the recession has started to ease.
He claimed that people are relaxing their purse strings a little following two years of economic uncertainty.
