Spain and Portugal recommended for last-minute family holidays
Families who are planning to take a
summer holiday this year but have not yet booked their trip have been encouraged to consider Spain or Portugal if they are intending to stay within the eurozone.
Post Office Travel Money also highlighted Bulgaria as an affordable option for people who are willing to go slightly further afield.
The company carried out a survey on the cost of family
holiday extras and found that Bulgaria is the cheapest destination for items such as jelly shoes and lilos.
In Bulgaria, Majorca and the Algarve, visitors can enjoy two hour-long pedalo or kayak rides for less than £16 apiece, according to the study.
Turkey emerged as one of the cheapest countries for ice cream and sun loungers.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said: "As our research shows, paying out extra for kids' 'must haves' could bust the holiday budget - so the clear message must be to pack the suitcase carefully.
"For families who haven't already booked, it's worth considering Bulgaria or a cheaper eurozone destination like Portugal or Spain."
