'Soak up some culture' of holiday in Tenerife
Families taking
holidays in Tenerife this year will find no shortage of attractions to visit, it has been suggested.
Javier Blanco, a spokesman for Tenerife Tourism, said that although holidaymakers may be tempted to stay by the pool, they should try to make time for some sightseeing.
"We encourage people to travel around the island, to experience local food, our gastronomy, our local cities like San Cristobal de la Laguna, Santa Cruz and the small towns on the island," he commented.
Mr Blanco noted that the Spanish island has something to offer everyone, from golf enthusiasts to families and couples.
There are also an increasing number of luxury resorts springing up around Tenerife, he added.
Research carried out earlier this year by Wanderlust and the Association of Independent Tour Operators found that 83 per cent of people intend the take at least the same number of
holidays in 2010 as they did last year.
