Gran Canaria 'has something for everyone'
The popular island of Gran Canaria has a great deal to offer British holidaymakers, it has been suggested.
According to the Telegraph, it provides the perfect combination of ancient and modern attractions.
The publication noted that "while Gran Canaria has experienced huge changes, the culture and traditions that underpin island life are still very much alive".
In the centre of Las Palmas, holidaymakers will find the town of Vegueta, which is home to dozens of impressive colonial buildings.
The newspaper claimed that for many people, the "true glory" of Gran Canaria is the stunning mountains that are dotted around its interior, with some of the best hiking trails to be found in the Parque Natural de Tamadaba.
Writing for the same publication earlier this year, Nick Trend said the Canary Islands are a great option for half-term breaks, as they bask in warm temperatures all year round and are easily accessible from the UK.
